I think it's still dependable, but, it doesn't work in a vfpCOM dll. The workaround would be to put PhdBase in a vfpCOM exe and then call that from a vfp-mtdll passing and receiving any parameters.
An alternative would be what they use on the west-wind message board which is just vfp string functions which probably aren't going to be as fast as phdBase but still seem to work pretty good...
