In grids, shifting focus to the debugger often triggers grid behavior that intereferes with finding the actual problem. Hence the suggestion to use Wait Window.
I had forgotten that you have been around as long as I have and pretty much know all the tricks. Ain't debugging grids just a whole lotta fun?
