I was thinking along the lines of "learning environment". I've won at the Sahara several times (I used to make regular withdrawals from their blackjack account -bg-). The Sahara isn't *bad*, it's just not the best IMHO. Unfriendly dealers, older (read: smaller, louder and smokier) environment, and less available tables with lower odds and higher minimums just 'cause *it's the Strip*. Luxor, though, is a nice house and an excellent choice (although I personally don't seem to win there as much as other houses).

The Casino Royale (mentioned in another message in this thread), the Flamingo Hilton, the LV Hilton or Terrible's are actually where I was planning if the choice was to stay close to the Strip. The off-Strip casinos (Orleans, Sunset Station, Sam's Town, et al) have MUCH better comps, are relatively new, and some have breathable atmospheres. Also, several of the downtown Glitter Gulch locations (Plaza, Four Queens, LV Club, and Fitzgerald's) have cheap tables for learning, though they're a bit on the old side as well. BTW, the LV Club downtown consistently has the cheapest blackjack in the city (they keep a $1 table open 24/7).
