Hello,

I know you mentioned source code, but you may want to consider a reliable activex solution. The server inconsistencies, and data manipulation are all handled by the provider. This saves you from worrying about all the support nightmares for a technology that isn't your major line of work.

My company produces a variety of ActiveX controls and primarily those built for internet protocols. Our POP3 Wizard allows you to access POP3 servers using full protocol capabilities plus many of the enhanced features in a very simple to use object model. Messages are represented as objects and attachments are easily retrieved using simple function calls.

I hope you at least add this to your list of things to consider.

You should fully investigate all avenues and consider multiple options.
