Nothing obvious pops out. What is the distance to the conveyor controller? Does the controller provide any feedback when it receives commands (other than movement)? Have you tried a lower baud rate?

I feel that something has to be wrong with the settings because I can never get the program to work if i send all the data at once. for instance - the concatenated string chr(14) + chr(13) to start the conveyor. There are times when I send the stop command and the belt actually starts or the opposite could occur or nothing might occur. can anyone see a problem with the settings or code. thank you.
