There is no such function in VFP8 :(
It is one of the reason why people move from DBC to SQLServer\MSDE database

VFP is very fast while indexing so maybe you can run indexing dayly/weekly when first user log in or when last user log out - I know it is not what you need - but some of commercial VFP applications use the method.
