Hi

Google :
http://www.google.com/search?q=define:Database+engine

Nothing about dataset, dataview, etc, collections.

But John will know how to handle those definitions. He will tell you that he was talking about "local engine component" and "data engine" :)

DataView has properties to filter and sort data, but this cannot be considered a DML.

>There is not much to discuss here. a Local database engine should have a DML preferably supporting SQL. ADO.NET does not qualify to this rule. The fact that ADO.NET offers some methods of filtering and relating object properties in a collection does not make it a database engine.
