I don't think there is much said about gambling in the Bible, which contain and Old Testament and a New Testament. The New Testament contains the teachings of Jesus. It is believed that Jesus was God in the form of man (e.g. God took the form of man so as to reveal himself and Gods doctrines to humanity). Christians believe in the “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” which are really all the same thing, or God, in different forms).

There are many passages in the Bible, that could be linked indirectly to support an argument that God opposes gambling such as:

Thou should have no other God before me.
You should not steal or rob
Thou should not covet

I know gambling can be very destructive, especial to those who really can't afford to lose. Also, certain people have a compulsive need to gamble, so gambling can be particular destructive to anyone with a compulsive gambling disorder.

On the other hand, an individuals winning the lottery, for example, could be looked at as God's answering prayer and providing a much needed maricle.

It seem like gambling has little redeeming social value other than as a mean of entertainment.

Since the Bible and teachings of Jesus don't address the subject directly, It seems like the Christian objection to gambling would be based on human doctrine as agreed by various church leadership groups, rather than based on the divine laws of God.

The morality of gambling is a tough call, and when examine closely becomes a complex issue.
