Hi Cathy,

I have owned several different digital cameras since 1992. I currently have an Olympus C2500 SLR digital camera. I have had it since 2000. It is a bit dated now but from all of the cameras that I have tried out over the last several years, I have really liked the Olympus C-740/750. Nick said he has the 720. They are great cameras and have a 10x Optical Zoom which I found great for taking pictures from the plane and when sight seeing while on trips. The cameras aren't near as large as my C2500 and not nearly as expensive. By the way they also can take great pictures in complete darkness. Although, the C700 series does not have an IR sensor for complete darkness autofocusing. I really like having a large Optical Zoom on a camera. But it usually makes it a bit more expensive but can be well worth it if using the camera on vacation. Which brings up another point about do you take your notebook on vacation or do you purchase a digital storage solution which is like an iPod but is used to copy your pictures to a hard drive as you are hiking through tropical rain forest and run out of storage. We took 1400 digital photos while in Hawaii in 1999 and carrying a notbook up to the top of Diamond Head was not an option! <g>

A GREAT website to visit for Camera Revies is:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews

This is probably one of the best reviewers on the Internet for digital cameras and there is a great Forum as well there by Camera where people actively discuss their likes and dislikes. So, if you have a camera in mind, you can check out that specific camera to see how other people are enjoying or hating their's. My next good camera would probably be a Canon EOS 300 or 10D. But they are both SLR's with interchangabe lenses and require A LOT of care because you don't want a dirty sensor.

Don't forget to click on the CAMERAS on the left Frame of your browser while in DPREVIEW and choose a camera you are considering by brand to check out everyone else's comments on a particular camera. This site is one of the best places on the net for camera info.
