As far as IDE's I'm using Borland's JBuilder. I really don't know if I like it because I haven't decided on any IDE yet. JBuilder cost about $1000 I think (the personal is free). JBoss is a java server (much more really). Did you confuse JBuilder and JBoss?
I like the idea of JavaBeans and a tool to just build stuff from beans into jar's. It makes sense. But I still need the underlying structure to make it work for me. The more I read about Java the more I realize that there is a lot to learn. I haven't even attempted any coding yet.
I just read that RekAll is now going to be bundled with all the Linux Distro's. I'm willing to bet that's going to take off. I'm not sure what KDE is going to offer in 3.2 but they'll have something too. Some thing as simple as M$ access sound very interesting.
