Enron is a good example of how to run a corporation. Free enterprise at its best. A few people get rich and many loose pensions and jobs. Who cares about the many when the potential of enriching yourself is available?

>What IS unique to California [relative to most of us other States] is the crippling affect the State's regulations and tax system has on businesses. The politicians [everywhere] are too busy villainizing "evil" corporations and businesses in general to the point that they forget these businesses EMPLOY people. Seems to me if you create a better business climate, jobs will stop [or at least slow] being "outsourced" while more can be created. I would much rather have these "evil" businesses get tax breaks and enjoy a better "regulatory climate" so they can employ people. You may despise the free enterprise system [for profit], but it has been proven that this is the best system around.

>Trying to make life "fair" for everyone does not work. This just leads to an overburden of taxes and regs to the point where it is not worth staying in business. Then the State/Fed has to depend on what taxpayers/business are left to fork over more dough to pay for their unemployment which becomes a vicious cycle.

>>Arnold is off to a good start! He is about to realize how impossible it is to govern California or any democracy.

>>Unemployment in the San Francisco Bay Area is the highest in any urban area of the state. When asked by politicians in Sacramento yesterday how he intended to address the unemployment problem in the Bay Area, he stated, “The whole state has a problem! We need more jobs in California”! Well, that did not address the issue. Sounds vague, ignorant or political to me. This guy learns fast. He sounds like any elected official.

>>A prominent democrat in California is John Burton. There will be one heck of a dogfight after comments from Arnold during the last two days. The fun has not yet begun! Arnold may be naïve when it comes to politics and regardless of what he wants he has to convince the legislators. There is something wrong with a “two party system”. The alternative is even worse. To have one party in the name of the people does not work, as history has shown us.

>>California is not that unique - we are just bigger and in greater debt. Other states have similar problems. Stay tuned for the 6 PM news! :)
