How about "replace (this.controlsource) with this.value" in the lostfocus or interactivechange? I haven't had one like this for quite a while, so I don't remember what exactly worked, but it seems to either not refresh after losing focus, or not writing its value into its controlsource. Another thing to try, set its controlsource (I figure it has one at the column level). Also, if there's the default Text1 textbox still alive in that column, you may try deleting it.
