As for your issue about budgets; it is another truism or "self-evident fact" that budget plays a part in most decisions made by most people. What a boring world it would be if "price" were the only permitted answer...

"Because I like the shape and the engine and the features."
"Not true! It was because of the price."
"Well obviously price comes into it, but there are cheaper SUVs out there and we picked the Toureg because wee really like it. Price wasn't the main decision point."
