Steve -
I used to screen resumes of potential vfp developers in a large sw dev shop. Typically I would do a search on a name, to see what they've been up to.
I would look on UT, VFUG, Foxite, and the ms public newsgroups, along with some more web server searches.

I always had some concept that if they were not a member of one of those communities, then they really were not 'in the loop', no matter what was on the resume.

Sounds like Mr. Murphy really did no searching on you whatsoever.
Tis a shame, really. I think if he had, then perhaps his verbiage would have been different.

On the other hand, reading through the original job posting - and doing some quick comparisons - I might be able to understand his rudeness. {NOTE - UNDERSTAND, not condone]:
1. you are no where near Floral Park, NY. Ad says local candidates preferred.
2. you must have mentioned contracting in your cover letter. Ad clearly states full time employment AND 'No Contractors Please'

I would GUESS, based on prior resume intake that I've done, that Mr. Murphy has been innudated by resumes of ppl that really don't fit his requirements, and was really about to pop. Who can say ? His response really does not smack of much professionalism, but that, I think, was your original point.

Good luck with your search .
mondo regards [Bill]
