I felt sufficiently motivated to contact Michael Murphy directly to let him know that I took a dim view of his rude response and to give him a heads-up on the growing thread here on the UT.

Alas, Mr. Murphey appears to have few redeeming qualities. His response to my second e-mail:

Dear Mr. Murphy,

The intention of my missive was purely to give you a heads-up, not to start a debate. There is currently a small fire-storm on www.levelextreme.com that you might want to address.

Your job description clearly stated local candidates preferred and no contractors. So any applications from Contractors in Florida are either demonstrating outrageous optimism or are extremely erroneous - either way, if you are going to respond at all, it should have been with a form letter. The validity of your conclusions with regard to the applicant is not the subject matter; rather it is the tone of your response.

As indeed is the tone of your response to my initial communication, rather than thanking me for bringing the matter to your attention you choose to interrogate me. To wit:
