Nothing at all would be wrong with that. *g* That's what I would do because - as you said - it avoids interference with other apps and it makes the world a tiny bit more predictable.
I was considering the situation from the HOME()+"FoxTools" angle, because in general changing vendor-supplied code is a potential maintenance nightmare. You have to keep track of all changes so that you can re-apply and re-test them after the next service pack or version upgrade that comes with updated headers, PRGs, VCXen or whatever.
