For your situation I'd look hard at SBS 2003. Not long ago I was following a thread on (I think) SlashDot asking about Exchange replacements. While there was some moaning about susceptibility to viruses and the fact that it's from the "Evil Empire" (SlashDot is open-source / *n?x-oriented) the consensus was that the combination of Outlook and Exchange is a strong product.
If you're going the SBS route boost the server RAM up to 512MB at least - RAM's incredibly cheap.
