I think you're seeing one of the VFE's tricks. It's trying to find (at least in V6 and later, but I think it's been that way before) any control where TabOrder=1. Now if you've played with the tab order so that none of your controls has TabOrder=1, it may find such one in some of the containers.

I know I was fighting that one for a while, and spent a happy hour in the debugger until I found that. Don't know if it applies to your case, though.
