When you look at the thread title, it is clear what the initial motive was. IMO, trying to justify DBF's - when you have choice and when there are so many compelling alternatives - is a wasteful excercise. That said, I agree that DBF's can get the job done. But, when I have choice, DBF's will not be my first, second, or third choice. This is just one developer's opinion.

Comparing .NET to VFP OTOH - can be a useful excercise. IMO - Kevin McNeish has done a fine job of this already.

As long as the censoring thought police can be kept at bay - an intellectually honest and valuable discussion can occur.
