I note that no one has jumped in and asked why are you going to such an old operating system. IMHO XP pro is the way to go and it has a upgrade path that saves all of the re installing so at least you are almost in a familiar environment to start with.
After you are comfortable with the upgrade - run Convert to the NTFS and get all of the extra benefits of that file system.
