>>Nice site. One question, though - the artwork says "Copyright 2001-2004". You can't actually put a date in the future, can you?

>>You can put a future year if you want. It is a copyright notice. There can't be an infringment in 2004 until we get to 2004. Putting a future date in the copyright notice does not obviate copyright protection today.

>Hmm... maybe artwork doesn't have a time limitation on copyright but I think some types of works do (is it 75 years?). If so, what's stopping me from putting on "Copyright 2003 - 2024" and thereby extending my copyright an extra 20 years?

Good question.

Actually, the whole concept of copyright is so very Western. May fellow Europeans correct me, but I think in most of the countries outside the ex-British empire the work is not sold, but stays with the author forever. Author's rights are permanent throughout his life, plus the family has another fifty years until they are transferred to public domain - but even then it's recognized as that author's work. IOW you can't have rights to anything you haven't written yourself. The only exception I know of was the music, where the author(s) kept the rights to the song, lyrics and arrangements, but the record company kept the rights on a recording.

So, given my utter lack of fundamental understanding of the matter, I just didn't want to visit both places (main page and the template for the other pages) come January.

I'll probably have to learn too much American Legalese to understand the ramifications...
