Put into combo.GotFocus()
KEYBOARD  '{ALT+DNARROW}' PLAIN
and it will open aitomatically.

You cannot get rid of drop-down arrow on the combobox. However you can try to cover this part with the borderless shape. But I dont't think it is a good interface idea, as it goes against the standard control appearance. Something that works like a combobox but does not look like combobox is confusing.
