I knew about the field thing of course, but I was mainly concerned about the speed issue. In the Wiki there was some good exemples and yes in some of our tables we have a large number of fields so I'll keep using it.

There is also a table in the Wiki where when to use the m. or not is discussed. I was using it wisely already but without knowing the gain I had :)
