>For some reason we have to use port 8080 on our webserver. But, if you type in the ip address, you have to add 8080, such as 222.67.89.23:8080. I'm no big router guy, shouldn't we be able to tell the router for the request of 222.67.89.23 to go to 8080??? or am I wrong? What about with our url, www.someurl.com, can it just point directly to 222.67.89.23:8080??

You would need to add port forwarding entries into the server to handle the port change. If your server is behind a router, you can map port 80 to port 8080.
