The error in your thinking was trying to get VFP's textmerge to work with a word document. A word document is an object that Word understands, VFP does not. A general field can have a word doc init, but VFP cannot manage that document.

You can launch word and control it fomr VFP. Youc ant ell word to opena certain document adn to put certain text in certain places. You can tell wrod to print the document when you're done.

I suggested looking at the soluitons examples because they show you how to do this stuff.
