I think it hits the hammer on the nail in that perhaps VFP is not a high-flyer in the corporate world but there's a lot more to software development than just the corporate marketplace. I am also looking at .Net and I think there are some very impressive things about it but VFP is certainly going to continue to be a major resource for me.

I agree with that, small/medium businesses are less likeley to care what language you use, in the Council they make it priority, ridiculous I know, but that's the way it goes.
