>This reminds me of super string theory and dimensions (3, 4, 10, who really knows).

I have been reading a little on this; my English teacher lent me an introductory book. According to String Theory, our Universe has 10 dimensions, or 11, according to the latest versions. Let's stick with 11 for now: of these, 1 is time, the other 10 are space (since the Theory of Relativity, scientists speak of 1 time-dimension, and 3 space-dimensions). Of the 10 space dimensions in String Theory, 3 extend into large distance, the other 7 only at a microscopic scale.

>If superstring theory turns out to be correct, the idea of a world consisting of 10 or more dimensions is one that we'll need to become comfortable with. But will there ever be an explanation or a visual representation of higher dimensions that will truly satisfy the human mind? The answer to this question may forever be no. Not unless some four-dimensional life-form pulls us from our three-dimensional Spaceland and gives us a view of the world from its perspective...

Of course, the fact that a person can't imagine something doesn't prove that it doesn't exist.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
