I cetainly wouldn't regard the absence of the setup wizard as a decision maker on wether to move to VFP8.00 or not.

As regards is it safe. I haven't had a problem but I've only just started using it. I'm not aware of these problems you mention.

There are other installers but if you want something good you may have to pay for it.

Check tnat you have installed this when installing VFP8.0 I've just used this myself for the first time and though more complicated than the setup wizard does allow more options. If your setup requirements are simple then I think you'll find using Installshield simple as well.
