In the article, they said they were using vfp com mtdlls for interop to take advantage of existing code(near the bottom of the page). For all we know it might have been alot of code or the most important code. I wish they had more on that angle since rewriting everything from scratch is an option that's not too appealing for those with significant investments in vfp code...

If they were rewriting, especially for the web world, then it was a good time to consider choice of tool and MS provides all sorts of incentives to use dotNET.
