>Yes it is not news to anyone here but I believe that it have been only a hunch to community and this is the first time when the mighty www.microsoft.com\... says that VFP is dated product and thats the news, Am I right?.

That case study is an MS marketing document. I can't believe it took 18 months even though we know they had full MS support.

Agencies like NET and VB - the projects allow them to wring ton's o cash out of their clients. I learned VFP and delivered my first [mission critical] VFP project in 6 weeks.

A real case study: How many NET systems are dragging on delivery?

I know of a NASDAQ listed NET consulting firm that was filed on about 8 months back - and they're getting ready to be filed on [again] for failure to deliver by another company. The interface is computer-lab 101 quality and it's a clunker. It does a great rendering of the hour-glass:-)

The game is this: Go to the expense of getting the necessary licenses and training. It will take a while to write it off - therefore there will be a delay in moving to UNIX or Linux or whatever next great OS is in the cards.

There are technical 'self-acclaimed' gurus who don't know what they're doing (they talk the talk - but can't walk!). If they feel their skills are to be means tested, they often lobby to change technologies, that way, their lack luster skills and commitment will not be obvious. There are always job offers in sectors where people get fired or cannot deliver.

Again - the real fear is not the demise of VFP, but, perhaps, the demise of MS. Think about it.

If we're to spend time talking about the death of VFP on a VFP forum - we should consider two things:
1)Alternative xBase products (FlagShip,dBase - there are probably other's in the wing)
2)Why are we subscribing (there's almost 10,000 of us) to the UT?

What I want to hear about is how VFP, with it's local cursors and cool (the best) interface tools can be integrated to take advantage of NET - better yet how .NET can take advantage of VFP! But I still have not heard anything about that [so called] advantage, except that it means new MS licenses, new MS certification courses will be sold and stalled implementations because the same bunch that could not deliver with VB, is [now] not delivering with .NET! Easy money - I wish I had the soul for it:-)
