Is Novell the only good file server option for FoxPro tables?
We've been doing a lot of research and I've gotten some very well-informed opinions from here, but I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that NT cannot touch Novell in terms of being a file sever.
Here are the bullet points. Please respond if can further clarify or offer other information:
1.) Databases (not just FoxPro) should be kept on a distinct volume seperate from other data files.
2.) Write AND Read caching should be disabled to Optimize Foxpro performance.
3.) Disabling Opportunistic Locking should also be tested to determine if performance is improved.
4.) Even doing all this, you'd be better off with a Y2K ready Novell File Server.
