My favorite of these is folks who say "nucular" instead of "nuclear". I absolutely cringe whenever I hear an announcer, newscaster or public speaker do this...and most of the time I end up "tuning out" the person speaking because of the mistake.

>Have you noticed how even well-educated people use the phrase "...could care less..." or "...could have cared less..." when what they really mean is "...couldn't care less..." and "...couldn't have cared less..." all the time? I hear it from newscasters, entertainment personalities and yes, even from people here who love to argue the fine points of a discussion. Do a search for these exact phrases in the archives and you might be surprised at the results. Or, then again, maybe you couldn't care less... :-)
