I know it's not off help now, but for future solutions.
Consider the concept of "event call method"
Do never make an event do the thinks you like it do do. Instead if the event raises, call a method that do the work.
All inhertance should use that method rather then the event.
This gives you much better control then the DODEFAULT(). (For example you may run code before
and after the method call ...
