Perhaps a firm with several expert VFP programmers might be better?

My firm has 5 'seasoned' vfp veterans (10+ years each) - each has extensive SQL Server and other database experience. Full lifecycle development with proprietary and off-the-shelf frameworks. Each has extensive business background - accounting, manufacturing, insurance, etc. Each has experience with development and deployment of .Net developed systems, etc.

We also have experienced VB, C, and other staff members. We evaluate the problem and provide an appropriate technical solution.

Whichever route you take... good luck.

I would say the definition of good would be a developer that can also discuss business needs and challenges with users, translate them into functional/system specifications, and then code and deliver the product.
