I don't know why this helped but what I did while playing around with the problem was to remove a form from the project and recreate the EXE. The Setup Wizard now gave me no error. So I added the form back into the project and recreated the EXE and the Setup Wizard worked fine. Like I said, I don't know why this works or why I even tried it. I was probably getting real desperate at the time. HTH

Hello everyone! Fixed the problem! Here's the story...

Fixed it!  The problem was caused by something one wouldn't first think of based on an error message of "Error #279 Object 9 -- setup files may be damaged." -- as it turns out -- it was simply the fact that the ICO (icon) file that I attached to my EXE file, was not in the directory against which the Setup Wizard was run.  I simply copied the ICO file into that sub-dir and now all works fine.  Go figure!  Microsoft called it a 'bug'.  Hope this helps someone else down the road!

Sincerely,

Mark W. Mitchell
