People should feel free to compare the additional features added to dBase over the past 4 years to those added to VFP in the past 4 years with VFP 7, 8, and the upcoming Europa. The result should add relative information to the topic of this thread. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has moved away from VFP to use dBase instead within the past 4 years and would like to report the reasons why and the benefits to it.

There is no official response from Microsoft on this topic. But two things that might be interesting to consider. Microsoft bought FoxPro from Fox Software for $173 million over 11 years ago, and has added significant amount of value to FoxPro since FoxPro DOS 2.5 then. Microsoft is activitly working on a new version of Visual FoxPro code named Europa which will ship and be available for purchase in the second half of next year.
