John,

>I think that is what you think I do.

I think a lot of people think this and not, imo, without some fair reason to do so.

>I could not disagree more...

Of course.

>Instead - I rebut the assertion that some make that everything is fine.

Which is your right.

>I pose a more realistic opinion for those who inquire as to what to do - or what will possibly happen.

"opinion" being an operative word and "realistic" is an opinion about your own opinion.

>There are those - and we know who they are - that say Fox is "no worse" than other segments on a relative basis.

Because everyone else can also have an opinion too.

>I suppose on pure #'s - that argument can be made - but that argument is premised on a fraction of the relevant data that is available.

And no one is forthcoming with exact data on either side of the debate.

>I concede that much - if not all the info is anecdotal - but that does not make the info invalid.

But niether does it make it a fact either.

>I am not a prophet of doom - one who preaches FUD as it relates to Fox.

With all due respect it sure feels like it sometimes.

>Rather, I give my assesments of generally observable fact - and render an opinion.

If they are generally observable facts for all to see then what do we need opinions about them for? Surely the average intelligence of the UT audience is sufficient to be able to digest these facts.

>To attack those opinions as being FUD is not to attack the opinions at all. Rather, it is a strawman/ad hom. attack at best.

If you are entitled to an opinion then surely others are entitled to an opinion about your opinions. The problem here is that opinions are being presented as facts, by both sides.

>If you really disagree with my observations and conclusions, then attack the basis of those conclusions instead of just labeling them as FUD.

I dont think people dispute that VFP is a mature technology and that all products have a point when they will be surpassed by newer products. Its the incessant beating of the VFP is dead drum. And, my 2c opinion, VFP is not ready to be surpassed by newer technologies in all markets and application areas.

>To label them as fud is no more valid than to label them as wrong - because you say they are wrong.

Sorry, no more time. I gotta go make my VFP app run on my new MS toaster o/s :)
