I can create a control mechanism using rules object, but i don't want to write rules that check this kind of exceptions : "Column 'xxxxxx' is constrained to be unique. Value 'xxxx' is already present."

I want to use "Try...Catch" blocks to catch exceptions while updating data, but how?
