>Whenever I am in USA, i always have to tell people that Norway is not as cold as you think. The Golf current brings warm water from the Mexico Gulf, and it help us have relative high temperatures considering how high up north we are. Also note thet Norway is a very long country, I live close to Oslo which is in the southern part. In the period from mid january to mid march the temperature may go as lov as -30 degrees C, -35 degrees F, but usually only for a few days at a time. Average is somewhere around -10C (-25F). In the summertime Norway can sometimes be the hottest place in Europe!

I was born and grew up in the northern part of Norway (Vesterålen) and even the northern part of Norway is warmer than here in the winter (but a lot colder than here in the summer). I still have a pretty hard time to convince people that a place above the artic circle is warmer than Wisconsin this time of year ;)
