I would think that you could use the XML features built in to SQL Server to extrac the data in the format that you need. In fact, it may be faster to use stored procs to massage the data into the condition that you need it, then do a final SELECT...AS XML (etc). However, without knowing your exact requirements I wouldn't stand in front of a jury and swear to it.
