>Strange how earthquakes go...
>About 10 years ago there was one in northern(ish) Quebec and at least 800 miles from here registering 4.2-4.3 if I remember (small, in other words). Yet I was sitting on the couch (sofa) and started to feel something odd under butt when my son was just getting up from the computer chair. Boom... right down on his ass! He got this really scared look on his face, ran out the door and down 27 flights of stairs. When I got to him about 10 minutes later he had calmed down some but didn't sleep well for that and the next few nights.
We had a few at home, but nothing big nearby. So we did feel some vibration from time to time - we even felt the big one that hit Bucharest in the late 70s.
The best one was in August '90 or '91, when one of the guys came from a vacation in Greece and brought a bottle of Metaxa. I just had one shot and noticed my monitor was rocking. I said "didn't feel that strong for a drink, but sure has some nice effects to it - I have this feeling that my monitor is rocking", and our accountant said "dang you, it's an earthquake!". "Oh... then one shot was enough."
