I gotcha beat by about four years (1972). I cut off the full beard to go with the goatee a couple of years back. It was because the sides had become so white and thin that it pointless. After Thanksgiving (actually starting on that date), I stopped shaving, after 8-9 days it was starting to look like it had thickened up and would come back looking better. Then my wife (AKA "The Mick") noticed. So...you get the picture.:-)
