I'm using some to do school attendance, similar to Paul's situation. For personal preference, I'm using cgrid rather than cgridlist and VFP 8's row highlighting features, with a ctextbox rather than cgridtextbox for the actual data entry fields. I duplicated the BROWSE FREEZE from Fox DOS 2.5 with a column.setfocus in the textbox.when() of the unchangeable columns.

Because of painting and sparse issues, you're probably better off avoiding spinners and comboboxes in the grid, especially if you're using the rowhighlighting.
