Couldn't it be just :

*Gotfocus
keyboard "{Ctrl+A}"

Once upon a time I had a stituation selecting by keyboard or "K" didn't work. Don't remember the project now but the solution :

*Gotfocus
keyboard "0"+"{Enter}"   && Enter an invalid value
*Valid
return iif(this.value<1,0,.t.)

A quirk way but still working (otherwise they would call even at 03:00 am)
