Are you using SEM to restore over the existing db? If you are, you need to check the "Force Restore" option.

If it is still a problem, try creating a new db and restore the backup over it - if it works, the problem lies not in the backup set, but something else.

After these process, the 12 gb logfile was truncated to 5 to 10 mb. The process was successfull. However, when i tried to do a complete backup of the database and restore it, an error occured.
