The one it comes with is pretty good - it works great. I have stayedm for now, adding my company's logo bemps and the CR rtf. I have tried the BMPs and will do more with them later. I only edit a few pieces of the install right now - I have not yet installed a VFP DLL (COM) - but I have a project that I will need to do it with after the first.

Minimal suggestions (keep it simple)

1) Organize your setup:
INSTALLDIR = [ProgramFilesFolder]MyCompanyName\MyAppFolder
DATABASEDIR=[INSTALLDIR]

2)Specify Application Data
Just Copy and Paste the app files to "Destination computer's folders"
My "destination" tree liooks like this:
Destination Computer
  + [ProgramFIlesFolder]
    + MyCompanyName (folder)
      + MyAppFOlder [DATABASEDIR] * My exe and fpw are here
         - My App DBF FOlder
         - My APP Image folder
         - My app USR folder
         - My app wav folder
Objects/Merge Modules * I Just select VFP8 runtime and MSCOMM 6

3) Configure the target System
[ ]ProgramsMenu
   - MyCompanyFolder (program group)
     - MyAppFolder
       - MyAppShortCut * i set the working directory to [DATABASEDIR]
4) Customize the SETUP Appearance
This guy takes the defaults - plus Destination Folder

7) Build Your Setup
I just select single image and the (from menu Build) Build Single Image.

The Setup is in:
MyDocuments->MySetups->MyISMProjectName=>Express->SingleImage->DiskImages->DISK1

Give it a shot - you'll be building SETUPs just like the bigboys and biggirls do. When I got my first to install I felt soooo "DownTown":-)

Of course I have great technical support - the UT!

>Thank you both for your advise.
>For now, I'll just stick with VFP6.0. I really don't need to change for what my clients are doing.

>Terry, are you saying that I can use what V8.0 comes with and still distribute w/o a problem or do I need to purchase the "enahanced version"?

>>In addition to Matthew's advice, it takes some practice. Problem is, the lag time between the project you are building (now) and the next one will erode some of of your hard earned understandings. But building installs is not a career - just a side line - so we can be forgiven for that:-)

>>The V8 ISE is pretty nice (for a freebe). IS does have a "SALE" now, for an enhanced version 99$.
>>
>>Just be sure to test your install and it's runtime on a "clean" system. There is also a 1907 error related to "fonts" included in the project that sometimes bite and at others don't. If you are shipping fonts (like foxfont), be sure that IS has not changed the shipped font files to a shortcut. I hate it when it does that!

>>You'll like it it - just have to practice and test (throughly):-)
