Dean if the install is what is holding you back from VFP8 look at inno setup which is free shareware(www.innosetup.com). VFP8 has too many features that will help your development efforts to miss because of the setup.

Create a distribution directory just like VFP6, include that distibution directory in the file list in the inno script and point to the VFP8 run time files and any other dll's you want to send and it will create the necessary setup files. Setup is compiled into 1 exe. Very easy for end users to use. Can include licensing info and post executable, creates desktop icons and entry on start menu.

I have used this in hundreds of outside locations with people who had varing degrees of experience and never had a bad install. Used it for both VFP7 and VFP8.

>>In addition to Matthew's advice, it takes some practice. Problem is, the lag time between the project you are building (now) and the next one will erode some of of your hard earned understandings. But building installs is not a career - just a side line - so we can be forgiven for that:-)

>>The V8 ISE is pretty nice (for a freebe). IS does have a "SALE" now, for an enhanced version 99$.
>>
>>Just be sure to test your install and it's runtime on a "clean" system. There is also a 1907 error related to "fonts" included in the project that sometimes bite and at others don't. If you are shipping fonts (like foxfont), be sure that IS has not changed the shipped font files to a shortcut. I hate it when it does that!

>>You'll like it it - just have to practice and test (throughly):-)
