>Sure it does, English, German and Dutch are so called 'Germanic' languanges. Whereas for example French is a catalanic language. IOW, Dutch, English and German are from the same family.

>If I may ask, in what way did you have a lot to do with the Dutch language ?

Early seventies, Adriatic coast, and the company which would usually gather on the pier in the evenings would be one third German, one third Dutch, and one third Yugos. I was the (un)official translator between those who spoke English and those who didn't. There would usually be some trouble translating Dutch into English, and even some of the Northwest Germans would jump in to help, so I heard a lot and learned a few. The kernel of the gang stayed together for a few years, we even visited each other in the winter. They've been to my place a couple of times, and I've once had a trip to Dűsseldorf, Amsterdam and Wasenaar. Frankly, that's how I learned to appreciate the dark beer :).
