John, you'd have to agree that most of these people you're talking about(let's say some of the vfp mvps of 5 years ago) who are now heavily concentrating on .NET are either heavily into consulting, writing articles, lecturing or all 3 and have ties to Microsoft in some way. In other words, this is one of the primary reasons they stand out. It makes imminent sense for these folks to put a lot of work into .NET. But, I don't think the prime motivation is that .NET is so much superior to everything that is VFP. Also, if you read RickSs assessment of .NET vs. VFP, he still likes a lot of what VFP is all about. There are many VFP "gurus" who are not so visible because of what they do, but , are equal or superior to the people you refer to and they're continuing to concentrate on VFP. I know because I've worked with them...
