They have an ActiveX control that allows realtime acquisition of of their data dictionary. The control is tooled to overcome shotcomings in VFPs event services.
Prior to this control, the only way VFP could gather Bloomberg data was through a tedious, rigidly structured DATALICENSE FTP client. Lag time was minutes to hours, depending on traffic.
Before that, back in `94, the only way to hookup was onsite and hooked up to Bloombergs pipe (FILELINK).
The ActiveX does everything through the internet, in real time. The "propietary" pipe is no longer required.
If you go to a Bloomberg terminal, and type "WAPI" and search on "foxpro" - you will see what I mean. It's nice to have an uptown shop's website return pages on a VFP search:-)
